Open Question: Problem Cockatiel? PLEASE HELP!!!?
I have recently bought a 9 week old male cockatiel. He was hand reared and had spent his whole life in a tiny box.
Now, about a month later, he loves people, and loves every member of my family, other than my brother and sister, because I don’t let them handle him.
Anyway, before I even bought him, I made a rule; NO ONE is aloud to handle the cockatiel (Mojo) except for me for the first few weeks, hoping he would bond with me more than anyone else.
However, in his first week, Mojo had everyone wrapped around his little finger and I just couldn’t keep him in a cage all day while I was at school and eating, so, from the second day I allowed mum & dad to carry him around and play with him.

BIG MISTAKE

Now he doesn’t like me, he always tries to bite me and, whenever he’s on my shoulder he always tries to get onto mum or dads!
It almost makes me cry when he ignores me, I now have to pick him up, where I used to just put my finger in front of him and he would step on. Now I pretty much feed him, water him, clean up after him and only hold him about two hours a week, max. I am absolutely sick of it.
He’s meant to be MY bird, and, I know this sounds kind of mean, but he’s meant to love ME over anyone else. It’s not fair! What should I do?
I feel almost cheated out of the $80 I spent on him, and almost feel like selling him. He is not affectionate at all. Mum said I can tell mum and dad not to pick him up anymore, so I would be the only one to care for him, but I can’t stand the thought of him being stuck in his cage all day.
What should I do???!!!
I’m thinking of getting him a buddie for when I’m at school, but then he may bond with the bird like he’s bonding with mum and dad.
Also, the lady we bought him off is mums idol, and she said:
a) If we buy another bird he’ll be unfriendly and
b) That he doesn’t have mites or lice, he’s just grooming himself because he’s young.

That’s another problem I’m having with him. He is always grooming himself, he’s not pulling his feathers out, but we’re always left with tiny feathers or dandruff on our shoulders. I think he might be grumpy because he’s itchy all the time, and I’ve begun getting bites all over my body that defiantly aren’t mosquito bites, but mum wont let me delice him or buy him a friend because she thinks this lady is SO GREAT!!
Also, he’s constantly biting the keys off my laptop; so far 2 are missing (F2 and F3), and my parents are getting angry. Is there a way to stop that? He also bit my dads expensive gold chain necklace the other day and broke it; they almost made me pay to get it fixed; and the face off mums favorite watch TWICE, the second time he dropped it and it broke, AND he undid mum’s earrings and she almost lost her $75 cross!
PLEASE HELP ME!!!
