Open Question: How can i find out how much zakat I owe?
I never paid zakat on my gold cos I thought you only had to pay it on stuff that you are not using and I just had 6 bangles and 2 rings. A few months ago I sold them and the jeweller paid us £700. I dont know how much the weight was and how much the actual value would have been. What can I do? I need to pay it for many years. How can I make up for it?
The problem is that I do not have the gold anymore and I dont know what the weight was.

My Father has this old gold chain its about 12 years old. However when i looked at it. It looks as if it was plated with gold and tarnished completely off giving it old metal tarnished look or even like when sterling silver gets really old and tarnished. He did take it in to see if he could sell it with a few different piece but the buyer did not even bother to test that piece.
My question is could it be possible if you have a 14k gold chain to tarnish this much?
I own a 10k gold chain now however I have not owned one long enough to see if that could happen. I am thinking because its not 24k lower karts in gold would tarnish after time?
